Monty is still settling in at FDHS, but he’s already got us wrapped around his paw. There’s something about him—the way he watches the world with quiet curiosity—that makes you stop and soften.

He came to us as a “stray,” but it’s likely he was dumped and left to figure things out for himself. Obviously, shelter life has been a little overwhelming for Monty. The noise, the movement, the unfalmiliat routines- it’s a lot. But even with all of the big changes in his life, he’s remained sweet and hopeful.

Monty’s figuring out the basics—how a collar feels, what a leash means, and that people can be kind. He’s most comfortable in the fenced yard where he can move at his own pace, and while his recall still needs work, he’s showing us he’s willing to try.

Like many of our dogs with uncertain pasts, Monty will need slow introductions to new people and pets. We may not know where he came from, but we do know we are commited to giving him a future full of love and comfort. Monty will do best in a calm, patient home that understands he may need some time to feel safe and secure.

If you believe in second chances and the underdog, Monty’s your guy.
