Monty has been at FDHS for several weeks now. He came in as a “stray,” but we later found out he had actually been dumped. Understandably, that experience left him nervous and unsure—and the busy shelter environment hasn’t made things any easier.

Monty is a shy guy who takes a little time to warm up, but once he trusts you, he sticks to you like Velcro. He recently went on a home trial and bonded closely with the older daughter and mom. Unfortunately, the household was too busy for him, and he was overwhelmed by the younger kids.

Monty is sweet with all of his caregivers and, with some patience (and maybe a few treats), he makes fast friends. He keeps a clean kennel, does well in a fenced yard or on a tie-out, and has shown some interest in other dogs—though any introductions should be slow and supervised.

Monty would do best in a quieter home with adults or older teens, and with someone who understands that building trust takes time.
