Hello future friends, my name is Thistle!
I’m a tiny Australian Shepherd mix, probably only about a year old, and I’m still learning that the world isn’t quite as scary as I once thought. I came to FDHS as a stray after being found by our local Dog Warden. I arrived in pretty rough shape, with patches of fur missing and the rest covered in fleas and debris. I was terrified of people at first, but after a few days, the humans here finally earned my trust and I even got a much needed bath!
I’m still a shy girl, especially around new people and situations. I think I need someone who understands that slow and steady is the way to my heart. Once I trust you, I’m an entirely different dog. I LOVE being snuggled and held, and I want to be glued right to my favorite human’s side. Belly rubs and yummy treats are also helping me realize that these two legged creatures might actually be pretty awesome.
I’ve shown interest in other animals and would likely enjoy having some furry friends. I’m looking for someone patient and kind who is willing to give me the time I need to blossom. Rescue experience would be wonderful, but all you really need is a little patience, a lot of love and the willingness to let me find my confidence. I promise, once I do, you’ll have one very loving little shadow by your side.
