Hi, I’m Nicole! But my friends call me Nikki.

I’ve been hanging out at FDHS since August of 2025, which feels like a really long time when you’re waiting for your person to find you.

I know I’m not the kind of dog who wins everyone over in five seconds. New people can be a little scary for me, especially men, and I like to take my time deciding if we’re going to be friends. I know that can make me easy to overlook in a shelter where so many dogs are bouncing off the walls trying to say hello. But once I trust you? I promise I’m worth the wait.

I’m actually a pretty easy girl to have around. I keep my kennel nice and tidy, I ride great in the car, and I walk politely on leash, especially if I’m wearing a harness. I have a calm, sweet personality and would much rather spend cuddling on the couch than running a marathon. As for other animals, I can be a little picky about making dog friends at first, but once I get to know them, I usually fit right in. I’ve even lived with cats before and did just fine. Kids? I think the older ones are more my speed! The little ones tend to make me pretty nervous.

I think what I really need is someone willing to see past my nervous first impression and give me the chance to build confidence, learn to trust, and figure out what it feels like to truly belong somewhere. I know my perfect person is out there somewhere.
