Ry came to us as part of a humane case where he wasn’t being treated very kindly. Despite his rough past, this dude’s an optimist and still has a HUGE love for humans! When he isn’t running out his zoomies in the back yard, Ry’s favorite thing to do is cuddle up with someone and take a nice long nap. Ry loves cuddling SO MUCH that as soon as you start rubbing his chin or his chest, his little yellow eyes start to close and he acts like he’s in a trance and then he’s a whole puddle of pup in your lap. Sometimes he gets so into it that he’ll flop onto his back and start snoring.
Ry has a very gentle nature and an easy-going personality. He prefers a calm, stable environment where he will feel safe and loved. He was adopted out once briefly and was returned after realizing it wasn’t an ideal fit for their home and lifestyle.
Ry can be tolerant with new people, but he needs his space respected and doesn’t love people being up in his face. He does okay with other dogs in doses but would likely do best in a home as an only dog or with another calm senior pup. Ry has lived with cats in the past and did okay. He would benefit most from a low-traffic home where he gets lots of one-on-one attention.
Don’t let his age fool you, this boy is a tank! He doesn’t have the best leash manners, but does okay in a harness. He’s excellent in a fenced in area or on a secure tie-out. Ry is very, very strong and can be a little bull-headed when out on an adventure.
